Collaborate with Microsoft Teams - Windows

 

All of the following tools are available in a Microsoft Teams Meeting. Schedule a meeting in minutes. Or have a Microsoft Teams Meeting in seconds.

 

   
Chat Message
 

Start a one-on-one or group chat to communicate with other Teams users.

1. Select Chat from the Teams navigation pane.

2. Select New chat (the pencil-and-paper icon) at the top of the Chat list.

3. In the To: field, enter the name of the recipient. 

4. Select the person to start a new chat with.

5. Type your message in the message area. 

6. Select Send.

Share a File

To share a file:
  1. Open the chat where you want to share the file. 
  2. Select Attach (paperclip icon) below the message box. 
  3. Select Upload from this device.

  4. Browse to and select the file.
  5. Select Open

  6. Add a message if desired, then select Send.

Save a File
 
  1. Open the chat containing the file.
  2. Select More options (...) next to the file.
  3. Select Download.

  4. Click Open file.

  5. Once the file is open, click File, Save As and choose a folder location.

  6. Select Save.

 


Share Content
 
To share your screen:
 
1. During a call or meeting, select Share (the screen-sharing icon) from the meeting controls.

2. Under Screen, select the screen you want to share.

To give control:

1. While sharing, select Give control from the sharing toolbar.

2. Select the participant you want to give control to.

3. To regain control, select Take back or Stop sharing.

To stop sharing:

1. Select Stop sharing from the sharing toolbar.

Conduct a Poll
 
 
Use the Polls app in Microsoft Teams to gather feedback, collect responses, or conduct a quick vote in a chat, group chat, or channel.

To conduct a poll:

1. Open the chat, group chat, or channel where you want to create the poll. 
2. Select Actions and apps (+)
3. Search for and select Polls

5. Select the Poll type.

 6. Enter your question and response options. 
7. Click Launch Now

Add Video
 
You can turn on your camera during a Microsoft Teams meeting to share video with other participants. If your camera is connected and available, other meeting attendees will be able to see your video feed.

To turn on video during a meeting:
  •   In the meeting controls, select Video (camera icon).

To turn video off:

  • Click the Camera icon again.

Record a Meeting
 
  1. During a meeting, select More (...) from the meeting controls.
  2. Select Record and transcribe.
  3. Select Start recording.

  4. Click Confirm.

Note: A notification will appear to all participants indicating that recording has started.

Recording Indicator: The red dot indicates that meeting recording is currently in progress.

To Stop recording:
  1. During a meeting, select More (...) from the meeting controls.
  2. Select Record and transcribe.
  3. Select Stop recording.

Note:
A notification will appear indicating that the recording has stopped.

Recorded Meetings

To access recorded meetings:
  1. Open the meeting chat.
  2. Locate the meeting recording.
  3. Select the recording to play it.
