The A.D. Bruce Religion Center hosted Meet Your Ministries, an interactive event providing students with information about various ministry groups on campus, October 8 from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Student Center Plaza. Ambassadors from over a dozen campus ministries represented their organizations, offering candy, games, prizes, and information about their groups.

On-campus religious groups such as the Baptist Student Ministries, the Wesley Foundation, the Lutheran UH Salt and Light Ministry, the Catholic Student Organization and the Houston Hillel group came to Meet Your Ministries to tell the UH community about their organizations’ missions, outreach efforts and programs. Many of these associations, in addition to providing prayer and Bible study opportunities, offer community assistance, host campus events, and provide chances to travel and explore. The Campus Ministries Association hosts free lunch every Wednesday during the fall and spring semesters, and Wesley Foundation has free coffee in the lobby of the A.D. Bruce Religion Center every Thursday. The Baptist Student Ministries provides free lunches every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekly breakfasts for commuter students, as well as a weekly English club at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center that helps international students learn the language and culture through interactive activities. BSM also sponsors the semi-annual 72 Hours of Prayer, an event that invites students from all around campus to pray and come together over the course of 72 hours. The Houston Hillel provides a weekly free lunch in the A.D. Bruce Religion Center student lounge and opportunities for students to travel abroad to Israel to explore their cultural heritage. The Catholic Newman Center offers a daily mass Monday through Thursday at noon, along with community lunches and small faith study groups.

Meet Your Ministries was a huge success, with over a dozen campus ministries participating. Students, both religious and otherwise, had the chance to learn about what UH’s ministries have to offer and how they can get involved, if they so choose. With a live steel drum band and free ice cream, Meet Your Ministries was a great place to learn and have fun.
