Why did you choose the University of Houston?
The financial aid package and scholarships I received were the biggest reason I chose U of H. One thing that I wanted for college was to graduate debt free, and I am doing that here as a Cougar.

Please describe your experience as a UH Cougar.
I have had my fair share of ups and downs as a college student. My freshman year, I dealt with depression because I was homesick and was still getting used to my new environment. As I've progressed in my college career, I have gotten more involved on campus and was able to meet new people that made my experience here more enjoyable. I would definitely say that if I never became a Cougar, I would not be as self-motivated as I am currently. I feel as if I've "grown up" since I came to Houston. Overall, I wouldn't trade my experience at U of H for the world.

What are your goals post-graduation? How has your scholarship support helped you in this pursuit?

I would like to go into financial advising once I graduate. My Cougar Experience Scholarship has helped me in this pursuit through the many viewpoints and everyone's "why" or reasoning for majoring in what they were majoring in. The main takeaway was that I should focus on something that I am passionate about. Being that I am interested in the financial sector, and I have a passion for helping others, it was a match made in heaven.

What message would you like to pass along to the UH community?

I would say get involved early! You never know who you'll meet!
