The 5th Annual UH Arts Open House
Get a taste of the best in UH Arts from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17
The fifth annual UH Arts Open House — “A Taste of the Arts” — will spotlight the vast array of programs in the visual, literary, performing, design and interdisciplinary arts at the University of Houston on October 17, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. in the Arts District on campus.
The free event is open to the public. Interactive art experiences and food samples from local eateries will be available throughout the afternoon.
Attendees also will have an opportunity to enjoy live performances and participate in tours of Moores Opera House, the Keeland Design and Exploration Center and the Blaffer Art Museum.
Additionally, academic representatives from the Moores School of Music, the School of Art, the School of Theatre & Dance and the Masters of Arts in Arts Leadership Program will be available to talk about earning a degree in visual and performing arts, arts education and arts leadership.
Information will also be available about the new Center for Arts Leadership, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts and the other UH Arts programs that present public programming that engages with local and national artistic and cultural movements.
Community participants in the open house include the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Tinderbox Collective, Café 101 and The Nook Café.
Launched by President and Chancellor Renu Khator in 2009, the UH Arts initiative encompasses music, visual arts, literary arts, dance, theater, and design programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture. As a presidential initiative, UH Arts focuses on the role of the arts as a catalyst for innovation and Tier One excellence.
