Emeritus professor Roger Sherman remembered by research association

Roger Sherman, a UH emeritus professor in the Department of Economics who passed away in February, will be honored during the Southern Economic Association's 80th annual meeting Nov. 20-22 in Atlanta.

Roger was a noted scholar in the fields of market regulation, anti-trust, and industrial organization. He taught at the University of Virginia from 1965 to 1998, when he came to the University of Houston to serve on the faculty until his retirement in 2006.

"Roger was a highly esteemed researcher, teacher and mentor," said Rebecca Thornton, MA Applied Economics Program Director. "We were very fortunate to have him as part of our department and remember him fondly."

A program session titled "Studies in Industrial Organization Inspired by Roger Sherman" will be presented during the meeting on Nov. 20.
