You can get a car, ride with a friend, or take public transportation. Houston is a large city often with heavy traffic. If you will be driving, check commute time before you rent it. If you will be taking public transportation, make sure there is a bus or train stop nearby.

A deposit is money that you must pay before you can rent an apartment. You may request money back when you move out. Before you sign the leasing agreement, talk to the leasing office about the terms and conditions of receiving a refund of the deposit.

A lease is a contract outlining the terms under which you, the tenant, agree to rent property owned by the property owner or landlord. Read the lease carefully and make sure you understand it before signing.
