Weather Emergencies

Sometimes the University of Houston (UH) will be closed due to a weather emergency, such as a hurricane. If UH closes, the Language and Culture Center (LCC) closes, too.

 

How do I know if UH is closed?

  • Visit the UH website at uh.edu.
  • Check emails from UH and the LCC.
  • Call UH at (713) 743-2255.

 

Will I be notified if UH closes?

Yes. Make sure you update emergency contact information with UH by taking the steps below. Your information will be updated in your myUH self-service account and in UH Emergency Notification System within 24 hours

  1. Log into AccessUH.
  2. Click the myUH Self-Service
  3. Click Personal Information.
  4. Click Campus Emergency Notification.
  5. Edit or add cell phone number and email address, if needed.
  6. Click Save and confirm changes.

 

How do I prepare for a hurricane?

How do I find weather information?

  • National Weather Service: weather.gov
  • Local radio stations: KUHF 88.7 FM or KTRH 740 AM
  • Local TV stations: KPRC, KHOU, and KTRK
