Academic Progress, Testing, and Probation

What happens when I do not make sufficient academic progress?

If you do not make satisfactory progress or have to study in the same level more than twice, you might be required to leave the LCC.

Will I be retested at the beginning of each semester?

No. If you take the MTELP and the Writing Sample at the end of a term, you will not be retested at the beginning of the next term. You will start the new term in the level based on your Promotion Score in the previous term.

Will I be retested if I leave the program during Fall or Spring?

Yes. You will be retested when you return to the program.

I studied in Spring. Will I be retested if I return for Summer II?

Yes. If you leave the program for seven weeks, you will be retested when re-entering the program for Summer II.

When does probation happen?

You might be placed on probation if you fail to complete assignments, miss more than 39 hours of class (or 19 hours for Summer II), or are disruptive. When you are placed on probation, you will meet with the LCC Associate Director or an LCC Counseling Team member. You will get a document showing the terms and length of your probation. If you do not follow the terms of your probation, you will be dropped from the LCC.
