NVIDIA Fundamentals of Deep Learning Workshop

Friday, May 3, 2024

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Open to current UH students, faculty and staff. CougarNet login required to register.

Businesses globally leverage artificial intelligence (AI) for various challenges. For example, healthcare professionals use AI for precise diagnoses while retailers provide personalized customer experiences. Deep learning, employing multi-layered neural networks, achieves high accuracy in tasks like object detection and speech recognition. This workshop offers hands-on training in computer vision and natural language processing, teaching how to build deep learning models effectively.

Price:
Normal cost is $500/per attendee, but Nvidia is waving the fee specifically for UH.

Learning Objectives:
By participating in this workshop, you’ll:
1) Learn the fundamental techniques and tools required to train a deep learning model.
2) Gain experience with common deep learning data types and model architectures.
3) Enhance datasets through data augmentation to improve model accuracy.
4) Leverage transfer learning between models to achieve efficient results with less data and computation.
5) Build confidence to take on your own project with a modern deep learning framework.

Certificate:
Upon successful completion of the assessment, participants will receive an NVIDIA DLI certificate to recognize their subject matter competency and support professional career growth.

Prerequisites:
An understanding of fundamental programming concepts in Python such as functions, loops, dictionaries, and arrays.

Hardware Requirements:
Desktop or laptop computer capable of running the latest version of Chrome or Firefox. Each participant will be provided with dedicated access to a fully configured, GPU-accelerated workstation in the cloud.
