Sharing Stories from 1977 and the Center for Public History are proud to welcome Dr. Mary Ellen Curtin to the University of Houston’s Agnes Arnold Hall (Room 104) on Thursday, November 7 at 6 pm to discuss her new book She Changed the Nation: Barbara Jordan’s Life and Legacy in Black Politics.
This exciting work explores how Houston’s own Barbara Jordan navigated racial and gender barriers to become a political leader and ringing voice of national conscience during the 1970s.
Dr. Curtin is an Associate Professor at American University in Washington, D.C. in the department of Critical Race, Gender, and Culture Studies. She also is the director of the American Studies Program.
