Cougar Card Photo Submission Contest Winners Announced

photo submission winnersOver the summer, thousands of incoming University of Houston students attended orientation to prepare for their first semester as a Cougar. This is also where they obtained their Cougar Card, which is their student ID and key to accessing several crucial campus services and activities, from using meal plans in the dining commons to gaining entry to administrative buildings and athletic events.

Throughout summer orientations, students had the opportunity to skip the long lines at the Cougar Card office to pick up their Cougar Card by taking a picture of themselves and submitting it online. As an added incentive, students who took advantage of this process were automatically entered into a drawing to win a Starbucks gift card.

Eight lucky winners were selected. The lucky winners are:

  • Nayab Ali
  • Nhan Duong
  • Kaitlyn Ely
  • Ashley Nicholson (pictured)
  • Julia Loomis (pictured)
  • Jonah Morrison
  • Dannis Sanchez
  • Megan Villarreal

The Cougar Card photo submission service allows students to take a photo of themselves and submit it online via AccessUH. Students are notified by a series of emails as their photos are being processed. Once completed, the Cougar Card Office will print out these pre-approved cards, and they will be available for pickup from their office located in the Welcome Center parking garage. Students who take advantage of this option can enter an express line and avoid the long wait times that typically occur during orientation season.

The photo must be taken against a plain white or off-white background, must have correct brightness and contrast, be a jpeg file and cannot exceed a file size of 1 MB. Students must also not wear hats or sunglasses for the photo. A full list of the photo requirements is available here.
