“CSE has helped me prepare for my future by giving me a support system and guidance.”

Angela Bryant is a senior at the University of Houston with a major in Biochemistry. Her hometown is Fort Worth, TX.

How did you hear about CSE?
I heard about CSE from a student representative when I was a sophomore. But it wasn't until the end of that year that I got involved because I had questions about class conflict. CSE has been a great support system when I needed it.

What would be your dream job or dream accomplishment?
My dream accomplishment as an optometrist would be to inspire and help a former patient to become an optometrist. For them to be able to say "I know I can do it because I've seen her achieve her dream."

What inspired your interest in becoming an optometrist?
I wanted to become an optometrist because I've always been fascinated by eyes and the complexity it that goes into seeing properly. Good vision has the ability to change the trajectory of someone's life. A person is able to learn better and dream bigger when they can see well.

What has been the biggest benefit of being a part of CSE?
Since transferring to UH and joining CSE, I have been given a lot of good advice from staff and Student Leaders. Also, CSE always emails student opportunities and ways to help.

What would you say to someone experience a personal challenge that is affecting their academics?
Don't be afraid to ask for help because it's out there. Remember to breathe and treasure the time you have as a college student. Also, grades aren't everything because when you're living your dream and doing good work, no one asks what your GPA was.
