AFB

The Activities Funding Board at the University of Houston is a student-run financial organization which allocates funds to UH student organizations wishing to fund programs and conferences.

  1. AFB works primarily on a reimbursement basis; funds are reimbursed only after the program or conference takes place. AFB may pay directly for the following on-campus charges: The Daily Cougar ads; UHPD (security) and University Center A/V charges and room rental.
  2. Receipts must be in the name of the student organization approved for funding by AFB. Receipts are not transferable to other organizations. It is the organization's responsibility, not the Activities Funding Board, to verify the accuracy and adequacy of the receipts and forms submitted.
  3. AFB cannot fund programs or conferences, which take place in the month of August. Receipts for funded programs or conferences which occur between July 10 and July 31 must be submitted by August 10 in order to receive reimbursement.
  4. Funding for conferences will only be for UH students who have at least 2 semesters of academic course work remaining.
  5. Any organization or organization's representatives submitting false or fraudulent receipts, statements, or required forms will face UH disciplinary charges and/or criminal charges. Failure to follow any of the AFB requirements can and will void the organization's allocation and reimbursements.
  6. If you have any questions regarding AFB policies/procedures, please ask for assistance from the AFB Financial Officer, AFB Advisor, and/or the AFB Chair. Please do not make assumptions about allocations, receipts, or reimbursements.
  7. Appeals of AFB decisions and/or requests for rehearing must be:
    • In writing.
    • Submitted to AFB Financial Officer.
    • Approved by the AFB Chair within 5 days of the initial decision.
The AFB Chair will decide if there is justification for a rehearing (new/more information on a program or situation) and will notify the group by phone about the decision to rehear the case. Appeal decisions by AFB are final.

Note to all registered student organizations:
Please be advised that the deadline for any applications for AFB funding will be due on June 30th. The requirement for funding is to turn in paperwork 4 weeks in advance and since we do not fund events in August the deadline is the last day of June.
