MINORS

The University of Houston offers the following online minors. The online minors are designed to enhance your bachelor's degree by adding a related topic. Earning your online minor enables you to gain specialized knowledge that complements your major, pursue a personal interest, or explore a different field of study. English

College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences - Department of English

The online English minor allows students who have majors in other departments to enhance their studies in language, culture, literature, art, and film. The minor provides a gateway for careers that emphasize communication and critical thinking. Students minoring in English complete 15 semester hours, of which 12 hours must be at the 3000 or 4000 level and 3 hours of one course at the 2000 level beyond the Freshman 2-course sequence of English 1303 and 1304.

eTailing

College of Technology - Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences

The online eTailing minor is open to all non-retailing and consumer science majors. Students must take HDCS 4374 and HDCS 4375 plus nine hours of pre-approved advanced courses. Minimum GPA required.

Fashion Merchandising

College of Technology - Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences

The online Fashion Merchandising minor is open to all non-retailing and consumer science majors. Students must take HDCS 4302, HDCS 4374, and HDCS 4375 courses. Minimum GPA required.

History

College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences - Department of History

The online History Minor is open to all majors. Students are required to complete 15 hours of approved History courses, with at least 9 hours of advanced courses. Please note there are minimum GPA and residency requirements.

Human Development and Consumer Sciences

College of Technology - Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences 

The online Human Development and Consumer Sciences minor is open to all non-retailing and consumer science majors. Students must take HDCS 1300 plus twelve hours of pre-approved advanced courses. Minimum GPA required.  

Human Resource Management

C.T Bauer College of Business - Department of Management

The online Human Resource Management Minor is open to all majors. Junior standing is required. Students must take MANA 3335 and MANA 4330 plus nine hours of advanced management electives. Electives require approval. Minimum GPA required.   

Management and Leadership

C.T Bauer College of Business - Department of Management

The online Leadership Minor is open to all majors. Junior standing is required. Students must take MANA 3335 plus twelve hours of advanced management electives. Electives require approval. Minimum GPA required.   

Mathematics

College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics - Department of Mathematics

The online Mathematics minor is open to all majors. Students must take eighteen hours of mathematics courses, with at least nine hours of advanced courses. Of those nine hours, three hours must be at the 4000-level. Restrictions apply. Minimum GPA required.  

Psychology

College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences - Department of Psychology

The online Psychology Minor is open to all majors. Students are required to complete 18 hours of approved Psychology courses, with at least 9 hours of advanced courses. Please note there are minimum GPA and residency requirements.

Retailing and Consumer Science

College of Technology - Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences

The online Retailing and Consumer Sciences minor is open to all non-majors. Students must take HDCS 3301, HDCS 3303, and HDCS 4303 plus six hours of pre-approved advanced courses. Minimum GPA required.  

Technology Leadership and Innovation Management

College of Technology - Department of Information and Logistic Technology

The online Technology Leadership and Innovation Management minor is open to all majors. Students must take TLIM 3340 plus twelve hours of pre-approved advanced courses. Limited number of online course options available. Minimum GPA required.
