Turn-by-Turn Directions

New to the campus map

Get turn-by-turn walking directions from where you are to any building on campus. Pick your destination, start the route, and the map guides you as you walk.

How to use it

  1. Open the map. Use any web browser or open it inside the UH Go app.
  2. Find your destination. Search by building name or abbreviation, or just tap a location on the map.
  3. Select the walking icon. Choose the walking icon to get turn-by-turn walking directions.
  4. Allow location access. Your device will ask permission so the map can show where you are and keep you on route.
  5. Start walking. The map automatically sets your current location as the starting point. Your position updates as you move and the map gives you the next turn.

How to use the map

  1. Find a place. Type a building, garage or location into the search bar, or open the A to Z building list to browse everything on campus.
  2. Turn on map layers. Open the menu in the corner of the map to show outdoor WiFi locations, dining options, vending machines, medical and health services, lodging, housing and residence halls, recreation facilities, accessibility features, family resources, parks, public art, emergency phones, parking, walking paths, and METRO stops.
  3. Find your spot on campus. Select the location button to place yourself on the map and see what's around you.
  4. Look for the details. Buildings are color coded by district, construction areas are marked, and accessible entrances are flagged throughout campus.

The campus map is built into UH Go, the official University of Houston app. Everything on this page is in your pocket, plus the parts that need your phone:

Common questions

Open the map, search for your destination or tap a location, then select the walking icon. Allow location access when your device asks so the map can show where you are.
Location permission is usually turned off. Check your device settings for the UH Go app or for your browser, then reload the map.
Yes. The map works in any web browser at uh.edu/maps, where you can search places, browse the A to Z building list and turn on map layers. UH Go adds features like Cougar Trax shuttle tracking and your digital Cougar Card.
Walking routes end at the building entrance. Location accuracy drops indoors, so use posted building directories to find your room.
Type it into the Find a place search on the map, or open the A to Z building list to browse every building on campus.

Getting around campus

Parking and Transit

Cougar Line shuttle

Free campus shuttle routes and stops, with real-time tracking on Cougar Trax.

Cougar Ride

After-hours rides between campus shuttle stops are available through Cougar Ride. Request a ride in the UH Go app. Service runs Sunday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

METRO service

Bus and rail connections between campus and the rest of Houston.
