Katherine Polkinghorne

I am currently a sophomore at UH majoring in Architecture. Although I do hope to pursue a professional career crafting the ambiguous, physical narratives of built shelter, I wholeheartedly believe that the lessons students can learn in the human situation are valuable no matter where we take them. Being able to think critically, articulate your conclusions, and discuss/revise those conclusions is an excellent kit of skills in any context. As a fellow, I hope that I can imbue this same excitement in a new round of alphas and omegans.

To hit on all the more personal notes: I am on the UH debate team, and have been competing in the activity since eighth grade. I am also in the process of convincing all the adults impacting my life that declaring a second major in Philosophy is an amazing idea. I will consume close to any kind of media, the exception being country music, and am always looking for recommendations. When I am not either in the architecture building or at work (this is rare, but it happens), you can find me pawing through the Family Thrift Outlet Store on Little York (twenty-five cent Wednesdays, people) or roller skating.

I cannot wait to discuss your big ideas and help you chisel them into readable essays. I hope that your year in Human Sit will be as formative as mine was.
