Workshop Description

US/Morocco Workshop on Sensors and Wireless Networks for Smart Cities
July 21, 2017
Rabat, Morocco

Developing smart cities to better support growing urban populations is a global challenge that requires global perspectives. To meet that challenge, this workshop seeks the input of many scholars from different countries. These scholars will discuss current obstacles and share experiences in smart city development, in an effort to work toward building solutions and best practices.

Call for Participation

More than 50% of the world population lives in urban areas. Significant benefit can be gained from making cities smart and efficient. Developing smart cities is a global challenge, and therefore needs perspectives from throughout the world. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for scholars from different countries to discuss current issues in smart city development, and to brainstorm challenges, share experiences, and define common research opportunities in particular between Morocco and the USA.

We invite papers that address interdisciplinary challenges in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Smart Cities to be presented in an NSF-sponsored workshop to be held on July 21, 2017, in Rabat, Morocco. The workshop is organized in conjunction with the International Conference on Smart Digital Environment (ICSDE’17). The accepted papers will be part of the conference proceeding. Limited travel funds have been made available through a grant from NSF and National Higher School of IT (ENSIAS), Mohamed V University, Morocco.
