Nick Jacobsen joined the Honors College in fall 2023 as the associate director of the Energy and Sustainability minor. Before joining UH, Jacobsen spent many years teaching courses for Miami University in Ohio and Texas A&M, and more recently, coordinating the ecology and evolutionary biology doctoral program at Texas A&M University.
Jacobsen completed his bachelor's degrees in ecology and evolutionary biology from Rice University and received his doctorate at Texas A&M University from the applied biodiversity science program. His dissertation research investigated human-lion conflict in the Okavango Delta region of Botswana, and was more specifically centered on how national and international policies shaped the interactions and attitudes of the locals toward large predators.
