Submission Deadline for Fall 2020: December 7, 2020
The preparation and content of a student thesis (a.k.a. master’s thesis, doctoral document, or doctoral essay) is determined by the student’s thesis committee and the policies of their school. Once the thesis has been approved by the student’s committee, however, the process may begin for getting approval from the college and for submission to the university. Students must complete this process before they can be awarded their degree.
The documents below are designed to guide students from the Moores School of Music, the School of Art, and the School of Theatre & Dance in the proper formatting and submission of their thesis.
KGMCA Thesis Model: Students should start by studying this document carefully. It provides detailed specifics on the proper formatting of all of the thesis front matter (the title page, abstract, table of contents, etc.), body text (including tables, figures, and musical examples), and concluding materials (references, appendix, etc.). The student’s thesis must follow this model in order to be approved by the college’s thesis coordinator.
KGMCA Thesis Page Order Overview: This is a list of the various items that are included in the completed thesis and the order in which they should appear. All of this information also appears in the KGMCA Thesis Model, but this document is useful as an easy-to-read summary and can serve as a final checklist before submission.
