SoA Artist Lecture Vincent Valdez

Vincent Valdez is an American artist born in San Antonio, Texas, who focuses on painting, drawing, and printmaking. His artwork often emphasizes themes of social justice, memory, and ignored or under-examined historical narratives. Valdez holds a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2000. In 2004 at age 26, Stations, Valdez’s suite of monumental charcoal drawings, was shown at the McNay Museum in Texas. He was the youngest artist ever given a solo exhibition at the McNay. He has exhibited his work widely at venues including The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame, The Frye Museum in Seattle, WA, The Mexican Museum of National Art in Chicago, and The Parsons Museum in Paris France.
