Dance Senior Projects Showcase

Sunday, December 6, 2020

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts School of Theatre and Dance presents “Senior Projects Showcase,” an online dance concert, on December 6, 2020 at 6 P.M. University of Houston dancers have a reputation as creative artistic innovators. “Senior Projects Showcase” features the UH Dance Program graduating seniors as they choreograph works adapted to the current pandemic environment. This year’s graduates are set to make their mark on the Houston dance scene by premiering all new works on an outside stage at University of Houston. Filmed on location at the Grove, UH Central Campus, “Senior Projects Showcase” will be pre-recorded for a virtual viewing experience.

“Senior Projects Showcase” provides a sneak peek of what is possible for performance and dance during a pandemic. The showcase features eight premiere works by women: Silver Dean, Mariah Henry, Arcelia Jaramilio, Kat Jimenez, Crissy Jones, Daniela Macias, Olivia Morrow, and Lauren Zernov. Jimenez is creating a solo centered around societal pressures on women, while Zernov focuses on the idea of dynamic femininity of women. Henry’s work is a hip-hop solo with high energy movement and a sense of nostalgia centered around the embodiment of superheroes, while Jaramilio’s vibrant jazz solo focuses on the concepts of money and greed.
