“HAN & HEUNG” PROGRAM
In the Korean culture, han (恨) represents deep-seated resentment and suffering, often stemming from traumas of past injustices or unfortunate life events. In contrast, heung (興) embodies a sense of exhilaration and joy in life. The Han and Heung concert program showcases newly commissioned works for clarinet, piano, and electronics, inspired by stories of struggle and hopes surrounding human experiences by composers from Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Jamaica, Germany, Canada, and the United States.
