Mexica Mariachi Festival: Summer Mariachi Intensive

The MEXICA Mariachi Festival is designed to provide local high school and college students with expert instruction provided by UH’s Mariachi Pumas. It is open to students entering high school and recently enrolled college students. Instruction will be through the Art of Mariachi music and includes instrument-specific workshops, ensemble rehearsals, and a culminating performance on Thursday, July 29.
Participants for MEXICA Mariachi Festival must be Houston-area high school and college students who have intermediate or advanced mariachi experience playing guitar, guitarron, trumpet, violin, or vihuela.
MEXICA runs from Tuesday, July 27 through Thursday July 29, 2021. Instruction begins at 9:00 AM and continues through 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided to all participants.
