Opera: The Bartered Bride

Friday, April 8, 2022

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Moores Opera Center presents The Bartered Bride.

In a small country town, arranged marriage contracts are still the rule, but make sure you read the fine print first!

Our production sets the story in the central Texas Czech settlement of Flatonia in the 1950s with an English translation written for the Royal Opera House by British TV writer Kit Hesketh-Harvey, known for his work on The Vicar of Dibley. This comic opera has a thrilling overture, memorable tunes, spirited dances, and if that weren’t already enough, the circus comes to town complete with clowns, a juggler, acrobats, and an elephant!
