AURA Contemporary Ensemble: Silver Linings

The Moores School of Music presents AURA Contemporary Ensemble: Silver Linings. AURA performs works that seek out the positive. Lighthearted source material sets an optimistic tone in “Yonder” by Jesse Jones, via bright, quasi-hymnal strains, “Pop Art” by Regis Campo, with colorful and unusual instrumental effects, and “toydogmusic” by Brooke Joyce, through the use of a piccolo and toy piano. Mary Finsterer’s “Angelus” is inspired by a painting of a couple in prayer, and Niloufar Nourbakhsh’s “White Helmets” celebrates the organization of the same name that seeks to save and protect civilians in war-torn Syria. The program also features the short film “A Better Day” by Houston filmmaker and actor Kody Felix that pursues the positive amidst the covid pandemic.
