Web Technology Service Center (WTSC)

Technology Service and Support offers services for Streaming Media and Business solutions.  These services are available on a need by need basis to Colleges, Divisions and Departments at the University of Houston.

Service Rate

Database Creation and Maintenance
Create or modify (MySQL) databases, tables, queries, etc.  Design schema, migrate or export data.  All data must comply with University security policies including FERPA and PCI compliance.

$65 hr

Graphic Design
Creation and editing of graphics – Modify existing images, create new images, scan images, banner ads, icons, images for other web site, etc. 

$65 hr

Web Site Redesign/New Web Site Creation
Preform a full review of your existing web presence, and analyze your needs and future goals.

$65 hr

Consultation services
Evaluate current application or website needs by doing a complete review of the current applications or work flow, and analyze your needs for future development needs.

$35 hr

Web/Application Programming
Develop or modify existing application using PHP, PERL, XML, JavasScript, and SharePoint.

$65 hr

Planning
Project Management planning, coordination, resources allocation, and other managerial duties necessary to ensure the professionalism and efficiency of the project segment.

$35 hr

E-Commerce Development
Creation of application for interaction with University POS system.  Must comply with all FERPA and PCI compliance regulations.

$65 hr

Testing
Preform application, quality, link and browser compatibility testing.

$65 hr

Usability
Producing and enterprise-level, scientific study in which WTSC creates a customized test administers it for target populations, and writes a report including raw data, user behaviors, and recommendation for improvements.

$65 hr

Training for custom applications developed by WTSC
Training sessions will be offered to orient staff to use the system developed for client by WTSC, ensuring that the system displays properly on the client’s machines, and answering follow up questions in the first month following the system launch.  Additional training sessions can be arranged to meet customer’s needs.

Presentation Development and Design
Meet with client, assess their needs, and provide consulting, development, editing and final version screen testing of PowerPoint, Captivate and other computer presentation tools.

Front End Design
HTML and graphic layout services, including CMS template design and setup.

Mobile design
Design services for mobile platforms using HTML5 and CSS3 technologies.

$65 hr

Digital signage
Project management and installation for college/department deployments.

Streaming and Media Services

Service Rate
Live Streaming/Teleconference (Encoding, Streaming)
  • Includes: 1 encoder, 1 streaming computer, and archiving
  • Teleconferences can be hosted via Zoom, MS Teams, or other technologies as needed
  • Stream to YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo.  Multiple stream destinations at no additional cost.  Other stream destinations may be available upon request.
  • Does not include cameras or microphones.
  • Setup & teardown requires at least 1 hour at an additional cost.
$75 per hour
Video Production Services
  • Includes 1 video switch and required monitors and recorders.
  • Includes video engineer to switch multiple cameras for live broadcast.
  • Does not include cameras or microphones.
  • Setup & teardown requires at least 1 hour at an additional cost.

Camera Operations
  • Includes: 1 camera, 1 microphone (lavaliere or hand-mic), camera operator.

  • Video and audio editing, conversion, enhancement, clipping/trimming, and transferring content.

Setup & Teardown
  • Required setup and teardown of equipment for an event or production.

Additional Overtime Charges
  • Customer requests for activities taking place other than normal work hours.

Normal work hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8am - 5pm.
*Events require a 5 business days advanced notice. All hourly charges are a minimum of one hour.
