Printer Kiosk and Other Printers on Campus

UIT provides campus printer kiosks for students who need to quickly print a document from their laptop or remote desktop.

Payment

The kiosks accept the Cougar Card as the only payment method.

  • Black & white: $0.02 per page
  • Color: $0.20 per page

UH students receive a print quota of $7.50 per semester. Any amount over this quota is billed to the student’s Cougar Card account.

Install the Printer Drivers

Before you can print, you must install the kiosk printer drivers from the UIT Software Download site.

  1. Download the appropriate driver.
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts.
  3. When the “Package UIT Printer Kiosk Client Installer” appears, click Install, then Finish.

After installation, you can view the printer under Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners (Windows) or System Settings → Printers & Scanners (Mac).

Printing to a Kiosk

  1. Open your document and select Print.
  2. Choose the kiosk printer and click OK or Print.
  3. When prompted, enter a password and keep it somewhere safe. You will need this password to release the job at the kiosk.

Print jobs are held for 2 hours and then automatically deleted.

Retrieving Your Print Job

  1. Touch the kiosk screen.
  2. Swipe your Cougar Card.
  3. Press Enter to view jobs in the queue.
  4. Select your print job and press Print.
  5. Enter the password you created when you sent the job.
  6. Press Return, then Exit.

Other Printers on Campus

Many colleges maintain their own lab printers. These are generally restricted to students in that college.

College of Architecture

  • Plotters and printers in the COA lab (Architecture students only)

College of Engineering

  • Black & white printers in COE labs (Engineering students only)

College of Pharmacy

  • Printers available in Pharmacy labs

College of Technology

  • Black & white printers in COT labs (Technology students only)

Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management

  • Printers for HRM students only

Student Housing and Residential Life

SHRL computer labs require a resident’s Cougar Card for access. If a printer needs paper, contact the Help Desk at 713-743-1411.

  • University Lofts – 1 B&W printer (residents only)
  • Cougar Village – 1 B&W printer (residents only)
  • Moody Towers – 1 B&W printer (residents only)
  • The Quad – 1 B&W printer (residents only)
  • Bayou Oaks – 1 B&W printer (residents only)
