UH Residential Organizations Receive Awards at NACURH Virtual Conference

Members of the University of Houston Residence Hall Association (RHA), National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), and Hall Council attended the annual National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) Conference on June 26-27, 2021.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Logging into Leadership.” Hosted virtually, students had the opportunity to gain leadership development, attend educational sessions, vote on legislation, and network with other students across North America.

RHA member, Gabby Kostecki was awarded the NACURH 2021 First Year Award. This award encourages involved first year students to remain active in leadership positions and to continue improving the residence hall environment on campus.

RHA member, Bryan Medrano was awarded the NACURH 2021 RHA President the Year Award. This award recognizes outstanding service to a campus organization, NACURH, and its affiliates by an individual who has served as an RHA president. RHA was also recognized as the Southwest Affiliate of College & University Residence Halls (SWACURH) regional winner of the virtual banner competition, which was designed by the current Vice President of Programming, Sydney Hetherington. Gabby Kostecki and Jakobi Augillard also received recognition on an individual level from the members of the SWACURH Regional Board of Directors for their hard work and impact on the SWACURH Region. Program Coordinator for Leadership and Learning Programs, Stephanie Hignojos, said, “These award nominations reflect a year of very hard work from both the nominees and those who worked on the award nominations. We are so proud that students who have worked tirelessly this past year have been recognized as the best student leaders in the nation.” Please join Student Housing & Residential Life in congratulating these students on their excellent work.
