schedule annual eye exam during Save Your Vision Month

To help protect your vision and maintain good eye health, the POWER UP Employee Wellness Initiative encourages all University of Houston faculty and staff to schedule an annual eye exam.

Save Your Vision Month is held every March and aims to increase awareness regarding proper eye care. The main focus of this national event is to encourage everyone to have regular eye exams.

There are many potential warnings of an eye problem. Your vision might blur, there may be discomfort and redness, or there may be no warning at all. A thorough eye exam allows for early detection of asymptomatic conditions, such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, both of which can lead to blindness.

The best way to preserve your vision is to have your eyes checked regularly. Now is the time to call the University Eye Institute at the University of Houston to schedule an appointment.

University employees insured by UnitedHealthcare HealthSelect may receive an annual co-pay fee waiver from the University Eye Institute. This waiver will cover your out of pocket expenses, but it applies only to an annual well vision eye exam. It does not apply to medical examinations or to contact lens fittings. The fee waiver, which may be used once per year, pertains to UH faculty and staff and does not include covered dependents or other family members.

Eligible faculty and staff can make an appointment for a comprehensive eye exam by calling the University Eye Institute at 713-743-2020 or by visiting http://www.uei.uh.edu. The University Eye Institute is located in the J. Davis Armistead Building at 4901 Calhoun and provides free covered parking for patients.

POWER UP your vision and take advantage of this important wellness benefit by scheduling your eye exam today.
