Wellness Walks taking place this summer at Hofheinz Pavilion

As part of the POWER UP employee wellness initiative, Human Resources and Athletics have teamed up to host Wellness Walks @ Hofheinz this summer. The walks take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday inside Hofheinz Pavilion. Faculty and staff interested in becoming more active are welcome to participate.

Walkers must enter Hofheinz Pavilion at the Cullen Boulevard entrance and sign in. Participants will also be asked to sign out before leaving. Mile markers are placed along the walls to indicate distance/miles walked. Food will not be allowed inside the building, but walkers can bring a water bottle.

According to the CDC, adults need about two and a half hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity a week for good general health. A brisk walk a day is a great way to incorporate physical activity into the daily routine. It can also contribute to better sleep, reduced stress levels and greater productivity.

Whether you want to be more physically active, take a break from your busy work day or just get out of the summer heat for a while, lace up your walking shoes and participate in Wellness Walks @ Hofheinz. Encourage colleagues to join in. A walking buddy can make the activity more enjoyable, as well as keep you motivated and accountable for meeting your walking goals.

If you have any questions about the walks, contact wellness manager Courtney Stein at cstein2@uh.edu or at 713-743-1991.
