This is the fourth year that UH Printing and Postal Services has participated in Sustainability Fest.

UH Printing earned its certification in April 2012 as a certified Forest Stewardship Council printer, a distinguished designation that demonstrates its commitment to sustainability. By receiving the certification, the department does its part to promote and use responsibly-produced paper for printing projects.

By participating in the annual Sustainability Fest celebration, UH Printing and Postal Services is able to let the campus community know how it personally supports the University’s green initiative.

This year, UH Printing and Postal Services wanted to demonstrate the many career opportunities available for graduates in the paper industry. A chart was prepared listing job categories with specific jobs listed for each category. These jobs were linked back to the college where related degrees can qualify the student for these various positions. The students showed a great interest in the chart. Many had never considered this industry as a viable option for their future degrees.

The “Take a Holiday Break Basket” competition repeated it’s ever popular word scramble. The participants had to identify words relating to the paper industry to be eligible for the door prize drawing. Out of the 47 participants, the lucky winner this year was UH student Joseph Eldridge.
