A new building is on the rise on campus and that means big changes for those who utilize ungated faculty/staff lot 19D.

Located behind Calhoun Lofts, the 224-space lot is closing permanently as construction preparations begin for the new Multidisciplinary Research and Engineering Building. Faculty and staff have several nearby parking alternatives they can use, including lots 19C and 19B in front of the Law Center and lots 21B and 20A, which surround the East Parking Garage.

The planned four-story building that is responsible for the lot closure will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including various research labs and computational training facilities. Set to open in early 2016, this facility, which is a joint project between the Division of Research and the Cullen College of Engineering, will only reinforce UH's position as one of the top research university's in the nation.

"As a Tier One research university, UH is continually expanding and evolving," said Bob Browand, director of Parking and Transportation Services. "We appreciate your patience and understanding as we update the University's current parking program to meet the demands of our ever-changing campus."
