Classroom emergency preparedness posters going up across campus

By Brian Hall Classroom emergency preparedness posters going up across campus

The Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with the University of Houston Police Department and Fire Marshal’s Office, has created a classroom emergency preparedness poster to ensure proper emergency information is easy to find for faculty, staff and students.

The initiative began when campus partners communicated a need for emergency resource information to be more easily accessible across the campus community.

After determining the most critical content, a tabloid and letter-sized poster were created to be placed in every classroom and lab on campus.

These posters include information on how to report an emergency, what to do in a fire evacuation, shelter-in-place directives and active shooter events, as well as information on the UH ALERT Emergency Notification System.

The posters are being distributed to all campus buildings through the Building Coordinator Program for posting in every classroom and lab on campus.

Building coordinators can request posters through the Office of Emergency Management, and they will be delivered to their location for distribution.

The PDF version of both posters can also be found on the Office of Emergency website.
