It’s not too late to sign up as a Cougar Mover volunteer

The Cougar Mover program, which ensures on-campus residential students have a worry-free move-in process, has put out the call for more volunteers.

Move-in will take place Aug. 17-20, with thousands of students flocking to campus to settle into their home away from home in any one of the seven on-campus residential communities. Cougar Mover volunteers are the backbone of the operation, providing all sorts of assistance, from helping to unload belongings from cars to handing out water and snacks and everything in between.

It is not too late for University of Houston staff, faculty, students and friends to sign up to volunteer. The process is easy and done online. Outside groups are also welcome to volunteer. People can volunteer to work as many shifts as they would like on as many days as they want.

“Each year, the UH community steps up to the plate and makes move-in a wonderful experience. We expect this year to be no different,” said Rhoda Arnes, marketing coordinator for Student Housing and Residential Life. “A fantastic first impression from move-in will go a long way in launching our new residents toward a successful year here on campus.”
