A few people have asked for recommendations for textbooks by other authors; the following is an incomplete list of books, based upon what is on the bookshelf in my office (there are other books besides these, so don't feel you must restrict yourself to this list.) I've given the ISBN numbers for the latest edition, but as I mentioned in class an earlier edition will also work just fine (within reason of course, a book from 1973 won't work very well!) Also, some of these textbooks have been published in another edition (with a slightly different title) with some material removed to make the book shorter. These probably will also work, but some students find that there isn't enough discussion in them to help with the homework, so I would suggest getting the longer version if you have a choice.
