Search Committee Announcements

On April 3, 2023, I announced that I am initiating a national search for our permanent vice chancellor/vice president for Research for the UH System/UH by appointing a 14-member search committee co-chaired by Provost Diane Chase and Dean Daniel O’Connor. The Search Committee will be assisted by Isaacson, Miller and will complete its work during the spring semester with the hope of filling the position by late fall 2023. I thank the committee members for undertaking this very important responsibility.

I am charging the Search Committee to (a) develop a strong and diverse pool of candidates, (b) screen eligible applicants, (c) invite finalists for campus interviews and (d) provide its assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each interviewee. I have also asked the committee to seek our faculty and staff input in completing its task and to keep our UH community informed with regular updates on the process and progress of the search.

This position is critically important in ensuring the continued transformation of the University of Houston and the UH System. We need a leader and a partner who believes in shared governance, is committed to faculty and student success, understands how to grow our research enterprise and is not afraid of our bold vision to become a top 50 public university. I have full confidence that we will find a strong, dynamic and talented executive who will help propel our upward trajectory.

Thank you for your interest and engagement.

Warm regards,

Renu Khator
President, University of Houston
