Device Management
Keep your UH device secure and reliable – automatically, behind the scenes, and without interrupting your work.
WHAT IS DEVICE MANAGEMENT?
Device management is how the University of Houston keeps university-owned computers secure, up to date, and running smoothly so you can get your work done without interruptions.
We use two trusted platforms, Microsoft Intune for Windows and Jamf Pro for macOS/iOS, to handle things automatically in the background. That includes applying security updates, spotting potential issues early, protecting university data, and letting IT fix problems quickly, often remotely.
This program is required because of state cybersecurity rules from the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). Those rules drive the process, but the main benefit is a more reliable device for you. It only applies to university-owned computers. Your personal devices are not affected. Enrollment is usually handled by your department's IT team, and most faculty and staff do not need to take any action. If a device has been off campus, you may need to bring it in briefly to complete setup.
Overall, it means fewer issues and better protection for university devices.
