Brad Dorsey Founder and Co-Owner Deluxe Vanilla and Crave Cupcakes
Following graduation from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, Brad Dorsey ('91) worked in a series of ascending management positions at distinguished restaurants throughout the country. This included working 10 years at Houston's Restaurants, where he held various roles, including kitchen manager and general manager, at several locations. Thereafter, he worked as an independent consultant in Los Angeles, assisting bar and restaurant clients in improving operations and profitability, as well as supporting them in launching new projects. Dorsey relocated back to his home state of Texas in 2007 and founded Crave Cupcakes, a baked-fresh-daily concept featuring gourmet cupcakes and other nostalgic sweets. Crave has two locations in the Houston area and ships nationally.
Alongside his wife, Claudia Farinola, also a restaurateur and graduate of Hilton College, Dorsey created Deluxe Vanilla in 2014. Together, they have cultivated relationships with sustainable farming partners in Uganda, near the equator, to import organic vanilla beans. Extracts are produced in Houston and distributed nationwide to the food service industry. Deluxe Vanilla contributes a portion of sales to support the fight against malaria in Africa.
The couple attributes the launch of their meaningful food careers to their family, their education at Hilton College and the extraordinary food and cultural experiences they've had abroad. This inspired them to establish an endowment to encourage and support travel abroad scholarships for Hilton College students. Here, Dorsey is also a member of the distinguished Eric's Club.
Dorsey and Farinola reside in Houston and cherish time with family, days fishing on the water and summers in Farinola's family's hometown of Brindisi, Italy.
