Career Highlights
Author of more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and trade articles in hospitality, tourism and information systems areas; editorial board member for the leading hospitality and tourism journals, including the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, and Tourism Economics; recipient of the University of Houston Provost’s 50-in-5 Research Award for faculty in 2019 and the New Faculty Research Award in 2017; recipient of the Best Paper Award at the Annual Graduate Education & Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality & Tourism in 2020, the Best Paper Award (1st place) at the Korea America Hospitality & Tourism Educators Conference in 2017, and the Best Paper Award at the Asia Pacific Management Conference in 2015; recipient of Minister’s Grand Prize (1st place) from the Ministry of Information and Communication, South Korea in 2004; recipient of grant funds from agencies such as Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals, UH Digital Research Common, and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Promotion, Ministry of Science and Technology, South Korea; currently teaches Hospitality Business Analytics & Communication, Project Management & Data Analytics, Innovative Hospitality Technologies, Hospitality Technology, and Social Media in the Hospitality Industry at the undergraduate and graduate levels; taught at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Korea Aerospace University before joining Hilton College in 2017; serves as the dissertation chair for Ph.D. students, the professional and research track paper advisor for MS students, and the faculty advisor for the College’s STR Student Market Study Competition teams; gained applied knowledge and experience in business analytics and information technologies as a consultant and research associate for Accor Hotels, Hilton, Intercontinental Hotel Group and France Telecom.
