HHP Faculty Participates in White House Summit

HHP faculty Dr. Mike Cottingham participated in the White House Summit on Improved Health and Fitness for Americans with Disabilities held on Oct 6th and 7th, 2014. The Summit was sponsored by the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development of the National Institutes of Health.

The White House Summit on Improved Health and Fitness for Americans with Disabilities brought together national disability stakeholders from K–12 schools, universities, and community-based organizations to share best practices for implementation of the I Can Do It, You Can Do It!(ICDI) Program and to discuss inclusion in physical activity, nutrition, and obesity programs and policies.

The 2 day summit included a research forum that examined knowledge gaps and research opportunities in diet, exercise, motivation, and outcomes to improve the health and life quality of all children with disabilities.
