STAFF EXCELLENCE AWARD
FAMILIARITY WITH CAMPUS LIFE KEY
IN SZWARC’S CAREER
Rebecca Szwarc believes some of the most important lessons learned
at a university take place in its residence halls.
As an administrative assistant with the University of Houston’s
Department of Residential Life and Housing (RLH), Szwarc is committed
to preserving a comfortable living and learning environment for
students.
Some of Szwarc’s primary responsibilities include organizing
RLH activities and drafting correspondence, memoranda, speeches,
position papers and proposals.
“Rebecca demonstrates a commitment to personal and professional
growth,” wrote Carolyn Hudnal, executive secretary in RLH,
in Szwarc’s nomination letter.
She also served on Staff Council and its committees that look out
for students’ best interests. “As a student, I never
thought I’d work here, but since being hired eight years ago,
I’ve discovered that UH is more than a great university,”
she said. “It’s a great place to work.”
As a Staff Excellence Award recipient, Szwarc will receive a certificate
and a check for $1,000.
