Scholarships & Teaching Assistantships

Scholarships & Teaching Assistantships

The Moores School of Music offers generous scholarships to UH organ majors at all levels. Scholarships are available to students entering both the fall and spring semesters. Most organ majors receive an out-of-state tuition waiver, meaning that he or she pays the Texas tuition rate regardless of current residency. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to contact Daryl Robinson, Director of Organ Studies, to discuss scholarship possibilities.

Many UH graduate students in organ serve as teaching assistants in history and theory in the Moores School of Music. Each year, one teaching assistantship in organ is available to a graduate organ major.

The Moores School of Music has established two organ internships:

            Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal)

Robert L. Simpson, Canon for Music
Daryl Robinson, Cathedral Organist

            St. Philip Presbyterian Church

Randall Swanson, Director of Music
Matthew Dirst, Organist

Additionally, the city of Houston has a wealth of active sacred music programs and more information about available positions can be found by visiting the American Guild of Organists – Houston Chapter website and by contacting Daryl Robinson, Director of Organ Studies.
