LEE HONORED FOR STUDENT MENTORING

Since 1993, T. Randall Lee has been more than a professor of chemistry to University of Houston students.

Throughout the years, Lee has mentored more than 50 undergraduate students, 10 of whom have enrolled in graduate school majoring in chemistry or chemical engineering. Additionally, Lee has co-authored papers with 13 students. His dedication to students has earned him the Faculty Award for Mentoring Undergraduate Research.

One of Lee’s former students wrote in a letter of support, “He has mindfully integrated undergraduate research and mentoring throughout his academic career to reinforce his outstanding work as a research scientist.” The student is now a doctoral chemistry candidate.

The $5,000 award honors the practice of mentoring in undergraduate research and scholarship.
