  1. Take a look at the 11 majors the College of Technology (COT) has to offer. Many of these majors will lead to careers in growth industries. Learn more about our programs in our online brochure. Check out our welcome message from Dean Anthony Ambler and review the testimonials from COT Student Ambassadors.

    1. Six out of 11 of our majors require Calculus: Biotechnology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical Power Engineering Technology. If you haven’t already taken precalculus, we recommend you take the math placement exam.

Five of our majors do not require calculus: Digital Media, Human Resource Development, Retailing and Consumer Science, Supply Chain and Logistics Technology, and Technology Leadership and Innovation Management.

    2. How do I register to take the online math placement exam? Is there a way to prepare for it beforehand?

First, create an account at the Center for Academic Support and Assessment (CASA) webpage. Next, visit the math placement webpage for FAQs including registration and preparation instructions.

  2. Speak to career counselors and faculty about your career aspirations. Take the MyMajors assessment.

University Career Services is a great resource for students to understand how certain majors link to career pathways and can help guide you through the decision-making process based on your personality, interests, and skills. Please visit the MyMajors assessment webpage.

FOCUS 2 is also another resource you can access.

FOCUS 2 guides users through a reliable, intuitive career and education decision making model to help choose a college, select a major, explore occupations, make informed career decisions and take action towards career development.
