Jamf Pro
Jamf Pro is the University of Houston’s platform for managing and securing university-owned Mac computers and iOS devices. It keeps your device up to date, protected, and running smoothly so you can focus on your work with fewer interruptions.
What is Jamf Pro?
Jamf Pro is a management system that lets UH configure, secure, and support university-owned Macs, iPhones, and iPads remotely. It applies updates and security settings automatically in the background, without interfering with your daily tasks.
Security That Works in the Background
Your device gets regular updates and patches with no effort on your part. Basic security settings, including encryption and firewall configuration, stay active wherever you are working.
Remote Management and Troubleshooting
Your local IT team can troubleshoot and fix many issues remotely, which means quicker solutions and less downtime for you.
Standardized Software Deployment
Essential university applications can be made available through the Self Service portal. You can install approved software yourself, and some key tools may be pushed automatically.
Why Use It?
Faster, More Effective IT Support
Local IT gets better visibility into device health and can resolve problems more efficiently, often without you needing to bring the device in.
Protection for Research and Institutional Data
Jamf helps keep sensitive university information safe with automatic encryption, updates, and restrictions on high-risk features, so your work and UH data stay protected.
State Requirements
State directives require central management of university-owned devices. Intune takes care of that automatically in the background, giving you a more reliable and secure device without any extra effort on your part.
Getting Started
Jamf enrollment must be coordinated through your local IT. If you use a university-owned Mac, iPhone, or iPad that is not yet enrolled, please contact your department’s local IT support or designated technology manager to begin the process.
