Microsoft Intune

Microsoft Intune is the University of Houston’s platform for managing and securing university-owned Windows computers. It keeps your device up to date, protected, and running smoothly so you can focus on your work with fewer interruptions.

What is Intune?

Intune is a cloud-based service that lets UH manage university-owned Windows devices remotely. It applies updates and security settings automatically in the background, without getting in the way of your daily tasks.

Security That Works in the Background

Your device gets regular updates and patches with no effort on your part. Basic security settings stay active no matter where you are working.

Cloud-Based Management

Intune works over the internet, so your device stays managed and supported even when you are not connected to the campus network or VPN.

Why Use It?

Faster, More Effective IT Support

Your local IT team can troubleshoot and fix many issues remotely, which means quicker solutions and less downtime for you.

Protection for Research and Institutional Data

Intune helps keep sensitive university information safe with automatic protection, updates, and threat detection, so your work and UH data stay protected.

State Requirements

State directives require central management of university-owned devices. Intune takes care of that automatically in the background, giving you a more reliable and secure device without any extra effort on your part.

Getting Started

Most UH-owned Windows devices will be enrolled automatically. If your device is off campus or has not recently connected to the university network, it may need to be brought to campus for enrollment.

To confirm your device’s status or prepare for enrollment, please contact your department’s local IT support or designated technology manager.
