Streaming Commencement 2021

commencement-stream-infographic.pngThe UIT Streaming Team helped support Commencement in May. They worked long hours to deliver high quality streams so that parents across the globe could see their child walk across that stage and receive their degree from a Top Tier University.

The team had their share of challenges -- they were spread thin with several ceremonies taking place at the same time in different locations, Ryan “Iggy” Harrison went out on FMLA the day before the first ceremony as he and his wife welcomed their second child!  (Congratulations Iggy!)  Iggy worked hard to coordinate and setup the ceremonies before he left on FMLA.  The streams were viewed in 77 countries and we had at peak, over 3600 concurrent viewers!

"It was a challenging undertaking to deliver these ceremonies, but my team and I were honored to be able to participate. These ceremonies are the terminus of UH students through their college journey, and while covid-19 preempted these celebrations for a time, we are thrilled that we could help make in-person graduations happen again. While my team endured early mornings and long days during these ceremonies, it's worth it to see our smiling graduates' names called, and finally take their walk across the stage. We look forward to helping with the class of 2020 ceremonies in August so they can also have their time to experience the graduation tradition."

The team was honored along with other members of the UH community who made this year’s commencement a huge success and attended a ceremony at Wortham House.
