Resolution Statement

Actions and Root Causes

User information was getting dropped because of cellular deadzones on campus caused requests to not complete.

Additional wifi access point was added to University Lofts Location and additional application logic was added to prevent this from occuring in the future.

Corrective and Preventative Measures

  1. Developers built in processes to catch and recreate full records across multiple sources (bikeep and UH Go).   This made it so that the user information stayed assigned to the locked bike and they were able to unlock without issue.
  2. At University Lofts a temporary outdoor wifi access point was installed as a proof of concept to see if users had wifi they could use bikeep. Once connected to wifi the process to open UH Go, lock, and unlock a bike was down to 90 seconds vs 9 minutes before.
