Wi-Fi Calling
Wi-Fi calling allows your phone to place and receive calls over the University of Houston’s Wi-Fi network instead of relying only on cellular signal. This can significantly improve call quality inside buildings where cellular coverage is weak.
Who Can Use It
Anyone on the central campus can use UH Wi-Fi networks to enable Wi-Fi calling on their mobile device.
How to Use Wi-Fi Calling
There is nothing to request from UIT. Simply enable Wi-Fi calling in your phone’s settings, then connect to a UH Wi-Fi network (preferably UHSecure). Your phone will automatically use the strongest available signal for calls.
Important Note
Call quality while using Wi-Fi calling depends on both the Wi-Fi network and your cellular carrier’s technology. Performance can vary as your device moves between Wi-Fi access points or switches between Wi-Fi and cellular towers.
