About UIT Security
UIT Security is responsible for developing security best practices, coordinating security issues, conducting investigations and working within Universty Information Technology and other campus departments to minimize security risks and assure compliance with security policies and procedures.
What We Do
- Create security policies and procedures to reduce security-related risks
- Provide security awareness training at all component campuses to ensure security awareness among users to keep their systems secure from viruses, hackers and other security threats
- Work with University of Houston system administrators to identify security vulnerabilities and to detect hacking attempts
- Provide guidance on UIT Security best practices, security design and architecture, and security compliance initiatives
Users are required by university policy, MAPP 10.05.02, Information Security Incident Reporting and Investigation, to report all security incidents, whether actual or potential, to UIT Security. Contact the UIT Security staff if you have questions or security concerns.
